Gift certificates?

We are evaluating FoxyPress as a possible replacement for our current cart (CRE Loaded) as we really need better integration with our WP blog and other WP pages on our site. However, we must have gift certificates available, both purchasing online and redeeming online. In searching the posts both here and on the FoxyCart site, we cannot find information about gift certificates. We've found the feature request for gift certificates on the FC site with almost 600 votes, putting it the number two position, but there's curiously little action on this. Searching this site doesn't turn up much either.
We can see where this might be both a "product" and a cart "function", so not sure if this is better addressed here or by FoxyCart itself as someone has to first buy the gift certificate as a product and then the cart has to be aware of the certificate in order to process it when being used as a payment form when being redeemed.
So, what's the status of gift certificates - do they exist in FoxyCart and/or FoxyPress?
We really like FC/FP to the point where it's made our short list of possible new carts! -
Greetings Luftmensch,Thank you for the question! We are planning a release in the next day or so, maybe today, with the ability to create static or unique coupon codes based on an item purchased. This could essentially be a gift certificate code, however, the only portion that does not exist currently is the ability to create a coupon code at the same time in the FoxyCart through their API that would allow the item to be redeemable. I will contact them and see where they are at with that and I think then we could solve your solution.What is your target launch date for your store?Thanks,Adam

Adam:Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - been doing a bit of traveling away from the email. :)Our target date for launching is mid-Summer, to answer your question.I understand how difficult the gift certificate is to create with a system like FoxyCart where there's no underlying framework for tracking things such as account balances. It's kind of the cross-over/intersection between a cart and the product management system.We're interested in FoxyCart and FoxyPress, as we really want a WordPress integrated site, but the gift certificate is a "must have" feature for us.
